Infrequently, such allegations progress beyond disgruntled gamers and this lawsuit typifies one such occasion. The claim, as reported by Axios, alleges Take-Two's sale of virtual currency transforms into "theft" upon a server shutdown, a common occurrence in these games.

No mechanism exists to transfer this virtual currency into subsequent installments of the franchise, although the process is ostensibly simple to implement. The class-action lawsuit, filed recently in California federal court, labels this practice as "unfair, illegal and greedy." Take-Two Interactive has yet to respond to these charges.
