The revival of stop-motion animation is gaining momentum, making its way into various forms of media, including video games. One such upcoming title that embraces this art form is Feltopia, a unique arcade side-scroller grounded in a imaginative knitted universe.

Feltopia invites players into a charming world filled with whimsy, centering on the protagonist Skyrider, who is a magical herder of sheep. Skyrider's mission is to eradicate a creeping darkness that threatens the tranquility of the world and safeguard their Rainbow Flock. The gameplay is reminiscent of the aerial levels found in Cuphead but introduces a distinctive artistic flair that has rarely been explored in gaming history.

Creative director Andrea Love explains the inspiration behind Feltopia and its distinctive artistic style. She notes that while felt animation has gained traction in television and film, it has not yet been embraced by the gaming industry. Recognizing a lack of representation for this particular aesthetic, the team decided to address it.

Production on Feltopia began in 2023, with a planned release aimed for mid-2026. The anticipation is building, and a trailer showcasing the stunning visuals, alongside a selection of screenshots, is available for individuals keen to catch a glimpse of this enchanting experience.
