The technology landscape continues to evolve, and an exciting development at the CES technology conference has captured the spotlight—Alienware's return of the legendary Area-51 desktop and laptop series. As part of Dell's gaming hardware division, this reimagined line aims to establish a fresh standard in the realm of gaming, showcasing cutting-edge features and impressive performance capabilities.
Both the Area-51 desktops and laptops will leverage the power of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, ensuring that they are DLSS 4 compatible. Coupled with Intel Core Ultra CPUs, these devices promise a gaming experience like no other.
The Area-51 Desktop stands out with its substantial 80L tower design, accommodating up to an RTX 5090 graphics card and an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor. This powerhouse will support over 600W of dedicated graphics and 280W of processing capability. The design has been optimized for easy upgrades and swaps of components, making future enhancements simple for users.
To address cooling needs, the desktop employs an innovative positive pressure system, utilizing three fans to draw air into the chassis. Gaskets will help trap air, creating a pressure system that efficiently expels hot air from the back. Additional cooling solutions include liquid cooling, dual 140mm fans, and dual 180mm fans. This advanced system is reported to keep the Area-51 running 13% cooler and 45% quieter during heavy use.
Moreover, the design features removable dust filters for straightforward maintenance, alongside an accessible side panel that streamlines access to internal components. This attention to detail promises an enhanced user experience.
For those interested in specifications, the premium version of the Area-51 Desktop is outlined as follows:
- Price for launch version: approximately $4,499
- Launch timeframe: Q1
The Area-51 laptops, referred to as AW30, will introduce a refreshed thermal architecture, facilitating 35% more airflow while operating 15% quieter. Stylish enhancements include a translucent thermal shelf, a color-shifting liquid teal finish, a Gorilla Glass window for a peek inside, RGB fans, and a zero hinge design.
The most advanced AW30 model expected at launch will feature an RTX 5090, Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, XMP memory reaching 7,200 MT/s, and a Gen 5 SSD with up to 12 TB of storage.
